A Musical Trifecta-Night 1
Granted Greve, and even more so, Panzano, are just tiny dots on the map of Italy. Yet, here in the heart of Chianti, I feel that I have hit upon a cultural jackpot. The abundance of music, in particular, is just astounding for these towns that have a combined population of barely 15,000 people.
What better way is there to spend a summer evening than outside, in a beautiful place, enjoying magnificent music with friends? For me, it just doesn’t get any better.
Here are the highlights of this week’s musical trifecta!
Thursday evening was the last concert of the series at the Vinaria, under the artistic direction of Carlo Fagiani. Titta Nesti, a female vocalist, in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, just blew us away! She sang and scatted and improvised, accompanied by Franco Fagiani on the guitar, Carlo Fagiani on the drums and other artists on the bass and keyboard whose names I didn’t catch. For some numbers she accompanied herself on unique instruments or just swiped the dozens of keys dangling from her music stand. Each number was better than the last with everyone on their feet dancing as she wrapped up. Wow!
Titta Nesti, a jazz virtuosa!
