Coffee At a Bar With Three Names
Before Donna and Robbie boarded the train that would take them to Rome and their flight home we enjoyed a last morning in Florence. We opted to skip the meager breakfast offered at our hotel and went in search of a better option.
A review for Caffe del Teatro Niccolini sounded promising and off we went. We liked what we saw when we peeked through the window so we opened the door and stepped into a small but elegant bar. White table clothes covered the few tables and the chairs and booths were upholstered and inviting.
We were shown to a corner table. After browsing through a multi page menu we decided we’d share a tasty looking tower of cheese, fruit, and some pastries.
“Oh no,” the waitress sighed when we pointed to our selection. “We don’t have that.”
And she had the same answer for our next choice.
“What do you have?” we asked. She told us she could bring us a plate of cheese and some toast.”
“Great, thank you. And three cappuccini , please.”
As we waited for the cheese platter, three cappuccini that looked too beautiful to drink were set before us!
Three drinkable works of art!
After we complimented the waitress for the beautiful drinks and delicious cheese she said, “Please give us a review. We are competing to be the best bar here.” She pointed to the QR code on the placemat.
“Of course. Happy to do it.” Donna opened the code.
“This is for a bar with a different name.”
“Hmmn… what is this bar called?” Then we saw the name on the cappucini cups was yet another name, not a match with the QR code or the name on the wall behind the bar. I don’t know what we should call the bar but it had the most interesting cappuccini spoons I’d ever seen and you could order then from the coffee company! Just a long metal strip with a few strategic curves. Simple and functional!
Just another charming, bewidering Italian experience at a bar with three names.
I may not know the name of this bar but they do have the coolest cappuccino “spoon” - that silver thing in the middle!
